Pic of me practicing my "karate Kid" moves in front of half dome at Yosemite. Mr. Miyagi is taking the picture. I'm about to do a backflip shortly while catching a fly with chopsticks after this photo was taken. Keep waxing on and off!!

Finding the Tumbleweed in the wind (and no its not Jack Dawson here)....

For those of you who I haven't kept up to date in recent months or even years(yikes!!!) on my life.... here is a somethin', somethin' for ya... Thus...Where in the world is Carmen San Diego.. I mean.. Tim Luepke ------ Well, I, Tim, is currently in Washington D.C., our nation's capitol. I've more or less been on the east coast since Febuary. Initally, I worked at a law firm doing event planning for a group of 300 lawyers (good thing that I watched the Firm, Pelican Brief, and Judge Whopper to be able to engage in small talk with them or else I would have totally been lost:>) A good experience nonetheless, I however, didn't get to perform my Al Pacino "scent of a women" speech. Alas.....

Currently, I don't technically have a place here in D.C. since my new job requires me to float between D.C and New York City. I have a summer contract stint which has given some amazing experiences on the east coast. I work for The Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) which is a unique leadership development program that brings together outstanding young people from around the world to build critical leadership skills in a global context. I've been working with students from around the world as a faculty advisor in discussing global issues, facilitating discussions and simulations and interacting with the world's top business leaders, policy officials, lobbyists, journalists, diplomats and academics in the challenging and dynamic environments of Washington, D.C. and New York City. The places which we've visited have included: embassies, The World Bank, Dept. of State, and the United Nations building in NYC. This job has fit me perfectly as it works with my strengths and passions of a global component, mentorship of cross-cultural youth, teaching of global issues, and event planning/tour guide aspects. This job runs through August and am currently exploring post-August options.

Other Tim factoids of recent interest.

*I got my Master's in December in Intercultural studies(a.k.a. international relations)... I'm officially gotz my dezgree-mom, now I'm all educmacated or something.

*I had my first opportunity to go skiing in the Rockies in Colorado this past winter. (but never do a black diamond on your first few runs just as a casual skiier like myself... (ski, tumble, tumble, ski, tumble, tumble... catch the scene... yeh.....) I also surfed for the first time this past year on the CA coast ( 4 seconds of glory only to meet the salt water again).

*I'm thankfully still at my college days playing weight of just over 200 lbs... Although the freshman 15 seems to creep up more and more each year at least it feels that way. And no I don't count calories.

*I've watched Pride and Prejudice 4 times(and counting) but to maintain my manliness, I've also watched Rocky IV four times in recent months. In a battle between Mr. Darcy verses Rocky.. hmmm.. I'd have to take Sly in 14 rounds but I'd choose Elizabeth Bennet over Adrien on the sidelines.

*I've had 2 major spills on my roller blades. One was a headfirst dive touchdown lunge into a grass patch to avert riding through an intersection of cars at a fast speed(was going down a steep hill).. Thankfully I hit the grass right and only came away with a scrape or two but gave great dinner stories for those who saw the 2o0 lb. human canon launch himself in the grass. It so happened this was right outside of Arlington Cemetery. Thankfully there was no memorial service for me this day.

*I was on a Ultimate Frisbee team called the flying ligers(a cross between a lion and a tiger). We took 3rd place.

*I've lived in 6 different places thus far this year. I'm ready for some stability.

*Did I mention that I'm a new blogger!!!!!

Tim Joins the big Parade
Seventy six trombones led the big parade
(I really can't play a trombone, thus there are only 75 trombones in this parade)
With a hundred and ten cornets close at hand
(what's a cornet?? Does it sound like a hornet?) I'm what you called muscially-challenged)
They were followed by rows and rows of the finest virtuosos
(sounds great-- virtue is always a good thing esp. that book called "book of virtues")
the cream of every famous band
(Just like that airband-my buddies and I put together of Bon Jovi and almost made it big-I was the drummer...yes, we were livin' on a prayer and I still need prayer:>)

And like the Music Man, I have succumbed to the BLOG parade. I've been wanting to join the parade for awhile but to numerous failed attempts. I hope my page will not only inform you of the logistics of my life(the boring, big floats at parades), but I hope to have a few clowns and few humorous floats at my BLOG parade. Ones that will draw you back into simpicity of life and find joy in the midst of the routine things in life. Moreover, I like candy. Lots of it. O.k. so I'm addicted to sugar. I always remembered as a kid, the ancipation and expectation that we had as young, sugar-addicted kids at the fourth of July parade. We would bully our way up to the front to be in position for the candy being tossed down from the floats. Our eyes would lock into the candy like in the Movie, Top Gun, where Maverick(Tom C.) would lock in his enemy F-14 planes in sky. The excitement to receive something that we anticipated for so long was now here(much like the anticipation of high school prom, your first, second, third, etc.. kiss, your first college party, or the lastest release of aVanilla Ice's CD (o.k. maybe not his).... Thus, I want this page to be like candy to you(but please don't start licking the screen or something-- or else I might have to tell my imaginary friend, Herbie, or something. But seriously, I hope you will take joy in my love songs/stories on life from a Wisconsin farmboy at heart. Oh.. and like my bovine-friendly parents always said.... Drink your milk, cuz it does a body good so pass it on! Let the parade of Tim's life begin and I hope to pass on the depth of my heart and lightheartedness of my spirit to you all!
